Void of course Moon phases occur about every 50 hours or thereabouts. They end when the Moon crosses the threshold of a new sign and they begin with the last major alignment the Moon forms to one of the planets. They last anywhere from just a few minutes to a day or more.

Information about these void periods dates back to Claudius Ptolemy (AD 90-168), a Roman citizen who wrote in Greek and lived in Alexandria. He was a mathematician, astrologer/astronomer and geographer. He was well-situated to benefit from the rich astrological tradition of ancient Egypt. His works were eventually passed on to the Islamic world and ultimately translated into Latin.

Decisions or ventures that are launched during these void periods are said to not achieve their intended goal or outcome. My own personal experience and what I’ve seen with my clients verifies this. Any major plans or deals that are made during these times eventually just sink into quicksand.

Last night a void of course phase began at 7:13pm ET and ended with the Moon’s ingress into Gemini at 8:19pm ET.

At 8:01pm ET, US President Barack Hussein Obama made a major speech announcing the end of American combat operations in Iraq. The speech, which lasted a little more than 17 minutes, ended by 8:19pm ET. It’s quite uncanny how it fitted so neatly into the final minutes of the void of course period.

And coming in the midst of a Mercury retrograde phase, there is still more evidence that his announcement and contents of his speech will not reach their intended outcome.
