These once-in-four-month-Mercury retrograde phases when the planet of thought appears to move backwards are notorious for causing glitches in transportation, communications, travel and technology.

News emerged yesterday of a ‘near-miss’ between a commercial jet and a passenger airline jet over the skies of London, England. It seems that sheer luck alone avoided a tragic mid-air collision.

It’s interesting to note that the incident happened back on July 17 which was outside a retrograde period. News of it, however, was made public yesterday during the current Mercury retrograde period.

It’s not surprising to see the emergence of this news during this time period. Do keep in mind that Mercury retrogrades not negative. They are essentially positive in nature albeit very complex.

Many other celestial cycles exist such as the daily rising and setting of the Sun. The latter is impossible to miss unless you’re locked in a cave. Dawn begins the day and an active period of work. Sunset brings the proactive phase daytime to a close and begins the receptive period of the evening and night time.

By noting the dates of Mercury retrograde phases, you will with time start noticing the change in the quality of life that takes place. It’s all a question of experience and the compilation of empirical evidence.

This weekend brings the end of this latest retrograde phase. It’s hard to believe that 3 weeks will have elapsed since its inception on August 20. But now Mercury’s backward movement is slowing down like a pendulum swinging up to the apex.

Get ready for another round of delays in the coming days as Mercury returns to direct motion.

Oh, and another piece of very interesting news yesterday was the sudden appearance of two Near Earth Asteroids that flashed past us at an alarmingly close proximity. Here we have the case of another near-miss. This time it involved the Earth and two asteroids from outer space.
