WEEK AHEAD – Saturday & Sunday
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 1
Saturday May 12, 2012
Annular Solar Eclipse
This week brings than big Annular Solar Eclipse we’ve been waiting for. It will take place on Sun 20 May at 7:47pm ET. The Moon will pass directly in front of the Sun, but because it is at the far end of its elliptical orbit (apogee) it will appear smaller and won’t be able to entirely blot out the light of the Sun. It will black out the center of the Sun and leave a ring (annulus) of fire around it.
Venus Retrograde
Venus is virtually motionless now as it grinds to a complete halt on Tuesday 15 May and turns backwards. Venus is having an unmistakable effect on our human experience. Venus rules, money, love sexuality, life on Earth and relationships.
Venus’ connection to money means that global financial markets look set to have a tumultuous week.
Venus rules relationships of all types i.e. love, business, politics etc. That’s been reflected in Greece and France where elections were held last week. The changing relationship between the electorate and government has brought a change in leadership. In Israel, a call for a September election was avoided when Benjamin Netanyahu managed to form a strong coalition that consolidated his power.
Venus’ shift into backward motion is highlighting all Venusian themes. Sexuality too is in the news. US President Barack Obama declared his support for same-sex marriage after Vice-President Joe Biden expressed his support last weekend.
It’ll be fascinating to see how all the Venusian themes evolve through the 43-day Venus retrograde cycle. Let’s keep a watch on it right here.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 2
Sunday May 13, 2012
Jupiter and the Sun will Help You
Jupiter (good luck, boundlessness) has joined up today with the Sun (personal fulfilment). Keep up your hope and faith in reaching your dreams.
The global tension we are living through shows no sign of retreating; yet with Jupiter and the Sun together as they are, today, it means that somewhere in your world there is a shining opportunity working some magic for you! Focus your attention on it and it will blossom into something wonderful.
Void-of-Course Moon Periods
Here are the Void Moon periods for this week. During these periods, it is best, if at all possible to avoid making any final decision or important business transactions. Sending in job applications or launching important initiatives is not advisable either.
If you do any of the above they are highly unlikely to reach their intended outcome. Your job applications will probably get lost or slip down the priority list.
If however, you cannot avoid doing the above, don’t worry. Being aware that it’s a Void Moon period will keep you a step or two ahead of the game. You’ll get a chance soon enough to modify your plans and put them on a better trajectory.
Above all don’t worry! Worrying is hard to avoid, but it only makes matters worse. Being aware of the VOC period gives you an advantage. Stay positive and you’ll be in control!
All other activities are fine. For example: holding meetings, discussions, doing chores, working etc – just don’t make any final decisions.
About a 9-3/4 hour VOC period
Tues 15 May 2012 – VOC begins: 11:59am GMT 07:59am ET
Tues 15 May 2012 – VOC Ends: 09:45pm GMT 05:45pm ET
About a 12-3/4 hour VOC period
Thurs 17 May 2012 – VOC begins: 09:44pm GMT 05:44pm ET
Fri 18 May 2012 – VOC ends: 10:03am GMT 06:03am ET
About a 10-1/2 hour VOC period
Sun 20 May 0212 – VOC begins: 12:35pm GMT 8:35am ET
Sun 20 May 0212 – VOC Ends: 11:05pm GMT 7:05pm ET
We are all born with a distinct purpose and an exciting destiny waiting to be fulfilled, but the deafening din of this mad world makes it virtually impossible to correctly get our bearings.
If you need an objective view of a burning issue or require advice in making a major decision, the ancient wisdom of astrology can provide guidance.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 1
Saturday April 28, 2012
THE WAXING MOON IS FLOWERING
The Moon breathes in when in waxes and breathes out as it wanes. It is now in the breathing in phase; the waxing phase. That last about 2 weeks.
The current 29.5-day cycle began last Sat 21 April. Today, we have reached the half-way point of the breathing in phase. This is when the Moon transitions from a crescent to a half Moon. Tonight it will appear as a right-sided illuminated semi-circle.
Seeds were planted with last week’s New Moon. Check back and see what issues came up at that time. Some of those have taken root and are now at the flowering stage. The Full Moon next weekend will bring the fruit.
The Full Moon will coincide with a Perigee which is when the Moon makes its monthly close approach to Earth. That makes this Lunar Month extra potent. Things seem rather calm this weekend, but we can expect the waters to get stirred up as this week unfolds.
Perigee Full Moons coincide with extreme weather, high precipitation, extreme tidal cycles, strong earthquakes, increased volcanic activity and irrational human behaviour. So, enjoy the relative calm that we’re experiencing now.
Mercury has moved out of the battle zone between Uranus and Pluto, so that will calm things down a bit. He’s speeding along in his journey to the far side of the Sun. That’s where your hopes, dreams and aspirations get fertilized by the creative power of the Sun.
Time just seems to be getting faster and faster with each week that unfolds. I’m hearing this from everyone I speak too.
If circumstances in your life are making you feel anxious, do your best to ease the angst by focussing your thoughts on everything and anything that lifts your spirits and builds your confidence. Your thoughts create your future, so be selective about what you allow in your head.
Be aware of your breath. Stay in touch with it. That’s your connection to the source of life. And it’ll help get you in synch with the Moon. Breathe deeply and slowly. Your ability to breathe carefully could very well turn out to be your Noah’s Ark.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 2
Sunday April 29, 2012
Solar Ring of Fire
On May 20, the Sun, Moon and Earth will align precisely in a straight line. The Moon will pass directly in front of the Sun, but because our satellite is near the furthest point from Earth (apogee) in its month orbit it won’t entirely block the solar surface. It’ll pass right through the middle, thus leaving a narrow ring (annulus) of fiery sunlight. An Apogee is the furthest point in the Moon’s monthly orbit around Earth.
The May 20 Annular Solar Eclipse Eclipse begins in southern China at 22:06 GMT. It’ll be May 21 in China. The shadow will then travel eastward along the south coast of Japan. Soon after it will pass just south of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands.
As it continues, it will reach land again along the coastline of southern Oregon and northern California. The track will head southeast through central Nevada, southern Utah, northern Arizona, New Mexico and will end in the Texas Panhandle.
Solar Eclipses draw a dark line across the Earth. This is like a cosmic finger pointing at the area of the Earth that is coming under scrutiny. The influence of Solar Eclipses last several months before and after the actual event.
What makes this Solar Eclipse extremely potent is that it will take place directly over the Pleiades, known as the “rattler” by the Mayans. In effect, the Sun and Moon will be eclipsing the Pleiades. Let’s hope things stay steady on the west coast. Tectonic plates and volcanoes have been increasingly active in recent weeks along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
On Saturday, an earthquake registering 3.8 struck southern California in San Bernardino County near the San Andreas Fault. The USGS revised the initial magnitude down from 4.1 to 3.8.
The Mayans may have seen this eclipse coming for they appear to have aligned the top of the Kukulkan pyramid at Chichin Itza in the Yucatan with the zenith crossing of the Pleiades. I’ll show you pictures of this in the next Open Webinar I do. The date hasn’t been set yet, but it should only be about a week away. You’re all invited to join. It’ll be free.
Perigee Full Moon
Perigee is the Moon’s closest monthly approach to Earth. The perigee will coincide with the Full Moon next weekend. When Perigees and Full Moon’s occur simultaneously, we get extreme weather along with increased earthquake and volcanic activity. The power of this alignment will be felt all month.
On Saturday, a sports bar tent collapsed during a storm that swept through the St. Louis area in the US state of Missouri. Wind gust lifted the tent. A strong thunderstorm north of the city produced golf-ball-sized and larger hail according to the US National Weather Service. The weather is highly likely to be very turbulent in certain areas of the planet over the next week.
So, things are heating up. Let’s hope the tectonic plates and volcanoes don’t rock and roll with the alignment of the Solar Eclipse and the Pleiades. Let’s hope that everyone stays safe.

Saturday April 21, 2012
NEW MOON IN TAURUS
The 29.5-day Lunar Month comes to an end today and, as it does, a brand new Lunar Month kicks off. At 3:18am ET this morning, the Moon’s monthly orbit takes it between us and the Sun. It’ll pass unseen and unnoticed above the Sun.
The surf is up. So, grab hold of your surfboard, get in the water and start paddling. Catch that big wave that’s coming in. It could be the best one yet.
The New Moon is planting seeds that will flower with next Sunday’s First Quarter Phase and then bear fruit with the Full Moon of May 5/6. This Lunar Month will pack an extra potent punch, since the Full Moon will coincide with Perigee Moon (the Moon’s monthly close approach to Earth). April marks the first of 3 consecutive Perigee Full Moons – April, May and June.
Perigee Full Moons bring higher than normal seismic activity, extreme weather, extreme tides and erratic human behaviour. That’s the bad side. The good side is that there is extra power available with the energy of this Taurus Moon.
If you keep your outlook positive and don’t let fear in the door, you have a great chance to make great strides towards your most cherished dreams.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 2
Sunday April 22, 2012
MERCURY TRAVELS THROUGH A ROUGH PATCH
Mercury begins this week caught in a bind involving Uranus and Pluto. It travelled through this point back in mid-March, but then pulled back because of the Mercury retrograde (backward movement).
Since April 4 when it stopped reversing and resumed forward motion, it has been heading back to where it was in mid-March. This week it enters the same area of the sky where it was in mid-March.
Birds of prey like owls, hawks, falcons and eagles, may briefly come to your attention this week. Issues surrounding nuclear power are likely to come to our attention too.
We can expect Japan’s crisis with the Fukushima nuclear power plants to appear in the news. Debris from last year’s tsunami including a fishing boat has reached the west coast of North America. I hate to mention, but perhaps nuclear contamination is arriving too. Let’s hope not, but there may be a possibility.
Another nuclear hotspot is the Iran’s nuclear development program. With Mercury contacting Pluto this week on Wednesday, Iran and the possibility of a military strike against it is likely to emerge again.
Void-of-Course Moon
The Moon enters a rather lengthy void phase today at 1:10pm ET. It’ll end 24 hours later when it enters Gemini at 1:05pm Monday afternoon. So, as always, avoid making any major decision, crucial business transactions or launching any initiatives. Doing so would be like throwing seeds on barren ground.
This is the second day of a highly energetic New Moon. Get those ducks in a straight line and get them marching.
And keep an eye out for the diamond light of Venus in the western sky after sunset. When it starts getting dark after 8:30pm, you’ll find inspiration in her light!

WEEKEND THOUGHTS – Saturday and Sunday
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 1
Saturday April 14, 2012
Shake, Rattle and Role
Critical celestial manoeuvres are now taking place over our heads in the mighty firmament. Uranus and Pluto are rapidly moving towards each other for a head on clash on June 24. It’ll be the first of seven direct engagements over the next three years. Rebellion, debt, nuclear power, earthquakes, revolution, technology and polarization of viewpoints are just some of the themes involved.
May 15 brings a once-in-19-month Venus retrograde. It’ll come to an end about 43 days later on June 27. We’re caught in the slipstream now and are swirling around in ever shrinking circles. The themes here are sexuality, relationships, female rights and the awakening of intuition and the right-brain. We’ll be delving deeper into that in the coming weeks too.
May 20 brings an Annular Solar Eclipse. This will be a momentous one; surely the most potent and powerful one in many a year. It will take place on zero degrees of Gemini. That is exactly where the Pleiades are. And the Pleiades, if you’ve been reading this column were known as the Tzab by the Mayans. And Tzab means rattler. The rattle snake was sacred to them and considered closely linked to solar power.
I’ve only just discovered how active this area of the sky is. When Venus sailed past the Pleiades on April 2, Texas was rattled by a swarm of tornadoes –frightening with their intensity and devastating power. The rattle snake is shaking it tail. It appears that this is linked to the Kukulkan Pyramid in Chichen Itza or “Chicken Pizza” as a recent client referred to it. I wonder if the Mayans liked chicken pizza. Well, pursue that question on another more suitable time. Perhaps, more importantly, I’ll explain how the Kukulkan Pyramid works as a cosmic clock.
Today, right now, i.e. the past few weeks and reaching a crescendo this weekend, Mars has taken hold of the rattle and is shaking it. Mars is extremely powerful now. The volume is up full. It’s been moving retrograde since January 24. That comes to an end about midnight tonight. When planets change direction they come to a full stop before reversing direction. That is when they are at their great power.
Mars is now at that point. It’s extreme powerful and forming a sharp 90-degree angle known as a square to the Pleiades. Mars is like Hercules. It represents brute, unbridled force. It’s a raw pugilistic energy and since it’s coming to us through the filter of Virgo, it is affecting nature i.e. the weather for one and all the humble but essential services that keep the functions of society working i.e. the work force.
Hercules has grabbed hold of the rattle and he’s shaking it. Two huge earthquakes have struck Indonesia plus endless big aftershocks. Mexico felt the shake of the rattler too with big earthquakes rocking the Pacific coast. Mexico City is shaking with it.
National weather forecasters cautioned Friday that conditions are ripe for violent tornadoes to rip through the US from Texas to Minnesota this weekend. This is only the second time in US history that the Storm Prediction Center has issued a high-risk warning more than 24 hours in advance.
And in just the last few hours, it’s been reported that a tornado touched down late Friday afternoon in Norman, Oklahoma, bring scattered structural damage.
The Texas panhandle was slammed on Thursday by a massive hail storm that dumped 4 feet of hail. What? The hail was reported to be small, but there was a lot of it in a concentrated area, accumulating 2 to 4 feet deep. There are pictures of people waist deep in hail. This is crazy.
Residents in the northern California city of Piedmont awoke to mudslides and falling trees on Friday. Local media reported short power outages.
Last Monday, softball-sized crushers decimated car windshields in northwest Oklahoma. Some cars were partially buried in hail according to reports. Snow plows where dispatched.
As mentioned several times in this column, we have a series of 3 perigee Moons coinciding with the Full Moons of April, May and June. Perigees are when the Moon makes its once a month closest approach to the Earth in its elliptical orbit. When a perigees coincides with a New or Full Moons, stuff happens. And it’s happening now.
The May 20 Annular Eclipse will draw a shadowy line across northern California, through Nevada, southern Utah, northern Arizona, New Mexico and finally in Texas. The power of eclipses works several months before and after the event. The cosmic finger of the Sun is pointing out this area for special attention. The swarm of storms are directly linked the Solar Eclipse.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 2
Sunday April 15, 2012
PART 2 will be posted early Sunday i.e. 12am ET – Midnight.
Mars/Pleiades link Creating Havoc
This weekend brought a hard, sharp angle between Mars and the Pleiades. To the Mayans, the Pleiades bore the name of the rattlesnake’s rattle. Symbols are always very complex. It’s like peeling through the layers of an onion to get to the core. The Mayans and of the Toltecs were clearly very advanced and wise cultures.
What we can derive from this so far is that the contacts to the Pleiades bring a shaking or rattling to the status quo. When Venus floated past the Pleiades on April 2, a swarm of tornadoes touched down in Texas.
Now with Mars holding a long hard square alignment, it’s packing a bigger punch. Huge earthquakes in Indonesia and Mexico have taken place. Mt. Etna just erupted again a couple of days ago for about the 12th time this year. Edgar Cayce, known as the sleeping prophet, made some predictions about Mt. Etna back in the 1930’s or so. He lived from 1877 1945. I’ll look up the sources where I read about his predictions and get more details on them for you. I recall reading that the Mt Etna would be the trigger to big changes.
Events linked to the Mars/Pleiades alignment continue today. For example:
1) Taliban militants have staged a wave of co-ordinated attacks on the Afghan capital Kabul and other locations.
2) The onslaught of tornadoes continues. They have hit a large swathe of the US Midwest, killing at least five people in Oklahoma. And another huge hail storm hit in Nebraska yesterday. What’s with all the hail storms lately??
Events on our fair planet are heating up with the approach of the Annular Solar Eclipse on May 20. That eclipse will be smack on the Pleiades. Astrological developments seem to be pointing our attention to the momentous eclipse.
Waning Moon
The 29.5-day lunar month is winding down to a close. We’ve just crossed the Third Quarter Phase on Friday. That’s when the Moon is a left-sided illuminated semi-circle. It’d drawing closer to the Sun and rising later every night. It doesn’t rise until after 4am.
Think of a clock. The Sun is the hour hand and the Moon is the minute hand. The minute hand (Moon) is on the last quarter hour and heading towards 12. On Sat 21 April, the minute hand will reach 12 and kick off the 29.5-day lunar month.
The next Full Moon on the May 6 will be another Perigee Moon. That one looks set to be particularly potent. These Perigee Full Moons bring bigger than normal earthquakes and an increase in volcanic activity. Extreme weather gets really extreme. It’ll affect the whole lunar month, but will crescendo with the magnification of the Full Moon.
Void-of-Course
We have 3 long void Moon periods coming up.
The first one begins on Tues 17th at 10:34am ET and ends on Wed 18th at 11:59am ET when the Moon enters punchy Aries. That one last about 24 hours.
The second void Moon starts on Fri 20th at 3:35pm ET and ends later that night just after midnight on Sat 21st at 00:05am ET. That one lasts nearly 9 hours.
The third one starts on Sun at 1:10pm and ends on Mon 23rd at 1:05pm. That’s a long 24 hour void.
If possible avoid launching initiatives, committing to important business transactions or making crucial decisions during these periods. It’ll be like throwing seeds on barren soil. It won’t take root.
The Sun enters sensual Taurus on Thursday at 12:12pm ET. Taurus is known as a Fixed Sign and marks the peak spring period. Spring is such a wonderful season. It’s a time of hope and renewal. It’s what Easter is all about.
Tune in to the power of the Sun in Taurus and it’ll fill your heart with joy and happiness. Stay safe and away from danger.

WEEKEND THOUGHTS – Saturday and Sunday
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 1
Saturday March 17, 2012
The Bugle Call of the Calvary
An enthralling planetary show continues to dazzle our retinas and stoke up the flames of our soul in the western sky after sunset. Over the past few months Venus has been lingering over the horizon with Jupiter positioned higher up. Over the course of that time, these two planets of good fortune drew nearer to each other and finally crossed paths last week. Now they’ve switched places.
Venus (the brighter and faster moving of the two) is currently placed above Jupiter. The distance between them will continue to grow. Jupiter, meanwhile, will disappear into the golden orb of the Sun in May and then reappear on the other side of the Sun as a morning star. Venus will do the same in June. It’s amazing to watch it all happen.
Venus and Jupiter are benefic planets. They bring opportunities and positive developments. Sometimes, when we are trapped by our earthy chains their influence can frustrate us and make us restless.
They always show us our potential or what we could be doing to fulfil the creative drive that exists in us all. If we’re not fulfilling our creative potential, then the gap between what we could be doing and what we actually are doing makes us agitated, restive and dissatisfied.
That’s good as long as we don’t get anxious and frustrated by a sense of powerlessness. You have the ability to connect with powerful forces symbolized by the planets that will inspire and motivate you. When you get in synch with nature’s cycles, you can create your own future. The Nile will part. Pyramids will be built in your honour.
Do you feel weak, fragile and at the mercy of negative forces? Let not your heart be troubled. Help is on the way. The bugle call of the cavalry charge can be heard coming to the rescue.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 2
Sunday March 18, 2012
Mars has us Working through Material Matters
Jupiter and Venus are lighting up the western sky and our hearts after sunset. Turn around and look to the east and you’ll spot rusty Mars rising as Earth spins on its axis. Mars is Hercules. He’s a Rambo or a Sylvester Stallone type of power. Mars represents the brute force, physical energy and burning passion we need to get through life.
With his journey through earthly Virgo now, it means that somewhere in your life you are cleaning out dead wood and preparing the ground for new growth. It depends on where Mars is currently placed in your personal birth chart as revealed by your Date, Time and Place of Birth.
Virgo also rules the infrastructure of our cities and civilization like the electricity grid, roads, bridges, travel and transportation routes. It also rules the work force that makes it all happen. With Mars currently going through its once-in-two-years retrograde phase, it’s time to do repair work and make modifications.
Mars turned retrograde (backwards) on January 24, passed the have way mark on March 3 and will return to direct motion (Station Direct) on April 14. During this time employers and workers have been working furiously to cut new deals in this era of fiscal austerity. Some strikes have been averted with last minute agreements. But many strikes have had to take place and are still going on. There is still time to go before this settles down.
The Spring Equinox
The Sun’s journey through the heavens follows a path called the ecliptic. That road is divided into four important points – the Winter Solstice (Dec 21), the Spring or Vernal Equinox (March 21), the Summer Solstice (June 20) and lastly, the Autumnal Equinox (Sept 22).
This week we have the Spring (Vernal) Equinox taking place on Wed 21 March at 1:14am ET. Please convert to your local time wherever you are in the world. These Equinoctial and Solstitial points are crucial moments in the Sun’s cycle. They are points where you can get in synch with the solar cycle.
The Sun is the creative energy of the universe. The Sun represents your ability to create something out of nothing. Rays of sunlight promote growth. Green shoots sprout out of the ground. Buds burst forth on trees. Blossoms come to life and turn into fruit. And white rabbits jump out of hats.A case can be made for the Spring Equinox to be considered the real New Year for the Northern Hemisphere.
The Mayans knew these Equinoctial points were important; so much so, that they built the Kukulkan Pyramid in Chichen Itza aligned in such a way that twice a year at the equinoxes, the setting sun hits the northeast balustrade wall casting triangular shadows that undulate down the staircase like a serpent slithering down the temple wall.
A large sculpture of a serpent’s head at its base, so that when the shadow of the serpent reaches the bottom of the pyramid, it unites with the sculpted head of the serpent or Kukulkan. How amazing is that? Building a pyramid in such a way was no easy feat. They were a highly evolved civilization.
So, this is an important week coming up. Make a list of your hopes, dreams and aspirations. Right everything down and light a candle. The Equinox takes place on Tuesday at 1:14am. Keep that list in the coming months in a place where you will keep coming across it like your handbag, wallet, desk, nailed to the wall or glued to your forehead. It will serve as a reminder of where you are going. Look to the Sun for guidance. Stay connected! The Sun will warm your soul, inspire your heart and give you the energy to make miracles happen.
A complicated series of significant astrological events takes place about mid-week. We have the crucial Vernal Equinox early Tues morning, then a void-of-course Moon kicks in on Wed morning at 4:37am ET. That will last until the Moon enters the action-sign of Aries on Thurs morning at 5:57am ET.
The void Moon will last all day Wed and the early hours of Thurs. If possible, don’t make any major decisions, launch any enterprises or execute any important business transactions during that time. They will not reach their intended outcome.
If you can’t avoid doing any of the above – no worries. It’s was meant to be. Do, though, carefully monitor how things progress in light of the void Moon. It’ll help you make a decision further down the line when you can put things back on track.
New Moon
The New Moon takes place about 5 hours after the lunar void ends. That’ll be at 10:37am ET on Thurs 22 March. That’s when you can jump on the surfboard and catch the surge of waves that comes to life. The New Moon will launch the next 29.5-day lunar month. Get all those ducks in a row and get ready to march.
Good luck!!
We are all born with a distinct purpose and an exciting destiny waiting to be fulfilled, but the deafening din of this mad world makes it virtually impossible to correctly get our bearings.

WEEKEND THOUGHTS
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 1
Saturday March 10, 2012
Mercury has Returned
The big astrological news this weekend is the return of Mercury, your personal messenger, from his journey around the far side of the Sun. He’s been out there in search of opportunities for you. And that means all kinds of opportunities, depending on your needs and your desires.
Regular readers of this column will be aware that Mercury embarked on this last journey on December 14. It seems like years ago when we think back to that date, but the time has flown by quickly. Check your diary, journal, emails and notes. What was on your mind? What were your concerns? For example, your main area of concern may have been money, defining your personality, love issues, children, material considerations, work, travel, career etc.
I advised you at that time to make a list of your dearest goals and aspirations and keep that list around as a reminder – in your wallet, handbag, stuck to the wall or tattooed on your forehead.
With Mercury’s return to home base now, you can measure your progress since that time and take things to another level. Mercury’s official return is on Monday when it stops and turns retrograde for 3 weeks until April 4. This is not the time to initiate planes, launch enterprises or make final decisions. It’s a time to look for opportunities, to re-evaluate, re-examine and re-tool your strategy and plans.
If progress seems blocked, that’s normal. Go with it. Don’t be impatient. Don’t give it up. Keep pushing, but know that a new approach is needed.
Mercury is arriving in a storm created by the epic battle between Pluto and Uranus. Issues surrounding debt, nuclear power for war or for energy will dominate the news. Pluto rules death, so news about death will be in the news this weekend. Don’t let that worry you. It’s all happening out there in the crazy world. It doesn’t have to touch you.
For you on a personal level, this is a time to make breakthroughs and find solutions to longstanding problems. Pluto’s alignment to Mercury will enhance your ability to deeply scrutinize and dissect the issues that concern you. Mercury’s contact with Uranus will bring innovative ideas and the proactive energy to think out of the box.
If you feel weighed down by problems, know that you will conquer them. There is nothing too big for you. You will find that extra little ingenuity you need to solve a problem or that extra burst of energy to make it first over the finish line. Mercury will make sure of that!

WEEKEND THOUGHTS
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 1
Saturday February 18, 2012
Waning Moon Moving Close to Neptune
Get ready for Tuesday’s New Moon. It kicks in at 5:35pm ET. The Moon is currently a thin sliver. Hour by hour it’s moving closer towards the Sun. On Monday it will totally disappear into the Sun’s golden orb and thus commence the dark of the Moon phase.
This so-called dark phase is a mysterious time when the veil between our material world and the world of spirit is thin. It’s a good time to meditate or daydream, because your intuitive and clairvoyant faculties will be greatly enhanced. Monitor your thoughts carefully, pay attention to your dreams and ask your lucky star for guidance. The Dark Moon is a good time to gain some valuable insights into what next 29.5-day lunar month will bring.
The New Moon will be in Pisces and conjunct Neptune, the ruler of Pisces. Neptune has a deep affiliation with the ocean and all the creatures it holds. In ancient Greece, Neptune was known as Poseidon and was thought to rule earthquakes. He also has a close affiliation with horses.
With Neptune having recently entered Pisces, we can look for news emerging out of the fathomless depths of the world’s oceans. From New England to Peru, an unprecedented number of dolphins have been beaching themselves in recent weeks. On Cape Cod alone, 177 short-beaked common dolphins have stranded and 124 have died according to an Associated Press report. The total is nearly five times the average of 37 common dolphins that have stranded annually there during the last 12 years.
News has now also emerged that this phenomenon of dolphins beaching themselves is also taking place in Peru where more than 250 dolphins have washed up dead on the beaches of Chiclayo, Peru. In that case, dead anchovies were also found.
Scientists are struggling to find the cause. For us though, we are interested why this is happening. Are the oceans giving us yet another poignant message about something that is to come?
Let’s continue this in Sunday’s Thought for the Day. Something very unusual is happening with seals in Alaska too.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK – PART 2

Neptune’s Growing Influence
The issues that come up now, as Tuesday’s New Moon approaches, are the seeds that will flower with the First Quarter of March 1 and then reach fruition on March 8 with the Full Moon.
Neptune’s power will be strong during the next 29.5-day lunar month that kicks off with Tuesday’s New Moon. Neptune rules liquids such as oil, the black blood of our industrial economy. The stage is set for oil to take a leading role as the Moon waxes through to fullness.
This is especially true in light of the fact that Iran has today announced a halt of oil sales to British and French companies. The increasing tension with Iran is very likely to accelerate a rise in the price of oil that will shock the world economy. Economists are likely to warn about the risk of inflation during this lunar month.
Mysterious Death of Seals in Alaska
Sick and dead ringed seals started showing up last summer and fall on the northern and western coasts of Alaska. Canada and Russia have reported similar incidents. Some walruses were also afflicted. Preliminary tests last week appeared to rule out the possibility that radiation from Japan’s Fukushima nuclear power plant as the cause.
With dolphins dying at Cape Cod and Peru and seals in Alaska, we’re left asking why. Scientists are trying to work out how. That’s good, but in many ways the most important question is why. It’s obvious that nature is giving us a warning. Nothing happens by accident. Nature has an intelligence that is always communicating to us.
If you need cheering up this week, watch the western sky after sunset. Venus continues to shine brightly above the horizon with Jupiter situated a little further up in the sky. The gap between these two planets of good fortune is narrowing. By mid-March they will conjunct each other.
Next weekend will bring us a beautiful celestial spectacle when the crescent Moon moves past Venus first and then Jupiter. That will truly be an inspiring vision.
Light a candle and make your wishes for Tuesday’s New Moon. May your dreams become reality!

Moon in Libra
Did you get through Friday’s lunar void without signing contracts, making major decisions or shaking hands on business deals? If you missed yesterday’s Thought for Day, just click on Fri 10 Feb in the archive to your left.
Let me think? Did I do any of the above? No, I think I’m clear. I made it. Sometimes, it’s unavoidable. If you do get caught doing any of the above during a void moon phase, just keep it in mind and watch how things develop. You can fix it and put it right later.
There have been times when there was no way out and I had to have important meetings during these lunar voids. Understanding what these voids do increases your power and ability to keep a couple of steps ahead in the game. And we all want to that.
The Last Quarter Phase is coming up on Tuesday. The Moon is waning. Life on Earth is breathing out. Waxing Moons breathe in. Waning Moons breathe out. Once we cross over that Last Quarter Phase, we’ll be into the last week of the 29.5-day lunar month. It’ll be time do a wrap on the issues on your agenda and get ready to blast off with the New Moon of Tues Feb 21. Start getting those proverbial ducks in a row. They’re running around all over the place right now.
The Moon’s in Libra this weekend. Its connection with Saturn makes it the sign that seeks justice for all. Librans like to keep things fair. Its connection with Venus on the other hand highlights the pleasure of life like music, art, fashion clothes and love. This has the potential to a fabulous weekend.

Whitney Huston and Comet Lovejoy
The dramatic news of the premature passing of Whitney Huston has stopped us all in our tracks. She was a top ranking star that touched the hearts of everyone.
It’s one of those strange traits of human behaviour that we don’t appreciate what we have until it’s gone. Her passing has brought to life the feelings and memories of the 80’s and 90’s to a whole generation that lived through it.
The ‘joy of love’ or ‘love gone wrong’ are just a couple of the themes that are no doubt coursing through your veins as you sift through feelings that rise up out of depths of your reservoir of life experiences as you now hear her music again.
Her songs and movies etched themselves deeply into our psyche. Hearing them again is transporting us all into the misty and sometimes tearful past.
It’s an intriguing fact that sudden and dramatic events and the deaths of prominent personalities are often presaged by the passage of comets.
The very bright and vivid appearance of Hale-Bopp in 1997 anticipated the demise of Princess Diana and Mother Teresa.
Comet Neat of Nov 2002 presaged the Space Shuttle Columbia Disaster of Feb 1, 2003.
Comet McNaught C/2006 P1, aka the Great Comet of 2007, coincided with the death of Anna Nicole Smith.
The spooky green Comet Lulin of 2009 was neatly timed with the death of Michael Jackson.
And now, it’s Whitney Huston. Is there a comet? There most certainly is. This time it’s the aptly named Lovejoy, formally known as C/2011 WE (Lovejoy) – aptly named because it’s in honour of someone who sang so passionately about love. It was discovered in November 2011. Perihelion (closest approach to the Sun) came on 16 December 2011.
At its brightest, the comet must have rivalled Venus, but was so close to the Sun that very few daylight sightings were reported. It caused a lot of excitement among observers, but didn’t seem to make the mainstream news.
Lovejoy stands out as what are known as sungrazing comets, characterized by orbits taking them extremely close to the Sun at perihelion. Lovejoy to the surprise of observers survived its perihelion and lived to continue its orbit.
Yet, again the cosmos speaks to us in vivid imagery that reaches down deeply into our heart and soul.

A Busy Week in Store
Hermes is Sending you a Postcard from the Sun
Monday kicks off with an energetic and vibrant Moon in Leo at 8:24am ET. Stay tuned for a nice burst of enthusiasm and let’s-get-it-done kind of mood. It’ll start at gently and softly, and then grow in strength like the tide changing direction. When you feel it, nurture and encourage it. Believe in it and it will grow.
On Tuesday, Mercury reaches the far side of the Sun. If you recall, it left its close approach to Earth on December 14. That was the last day of the 3-week Mercury retrograde which ran from Nov 24 to Dec14. Dec 14 brought the Station Direct – the point when Mercury returned to direct motion. At that time, Hermes (Mercury) began his long journey to the far side of the Sun.
Hermes is out there looking for ways to connect you with what you really need right now. Your dreams, your hopes, your aspirations – something good is cooking for you as we speak.
This is a crucial time that encompasses a week or two either side of Tues Feb 7. Look for encouraging news or contacts that are connected to what was high on you agenda last Nov/Dec. Hermes will be sending you a message about how it’s all going. Listen carefully. Something good is in the works.
There’s a lot happening on Tuesday. Firstly, Mercury reaches the far side of the Sun as mentioned above. Then Saturn does a Station Retrograde. That’s when planets reverse direction and turn backwards. Saturn will continue moving backwards all the way through to late June. Saturn’s influence has been growing over the past few weeks in its approach to the Station Retrograde.
If Saturn is in a difficult area of your chart, you are likely to feel the tedium of life is getting to be too much. Where has the joy gone? Is there a deficiency of pleasure in your life. Do your best to stay positive. Keep your thoughts focussed on uplifting notions. Somewhere in your life Venus and Jupiter are bringing good things – an escape route of sorts. The bugle call of the cavalry will come to your rescue.
Saturn retrograde periods are positive and industrious times. You’re now working hard to build a solid foundation for your future.
There is plenty more coming up this week. Let’s continue this tomorrow.

Full Moon Crescendo as Venus leaves Pisces
The Full Moon is here. It peaks on Tues 7 Feb at 4:54pm ET. It’s been pumping up the volume over this weekend. Revellers have been out partying and making noise. Perhaps, you’ve done the wise thing and joined in and burned the midnight oil; in which case, you’re probably sleeping right now. Check the palms of your hands for any unsightly clumps of hair growing there. Werewolves are about!
World events have been building up to a crescendo over the past few days. Look at developments in Egypt and Syria for example.
In Toronto, negotiations between the City of Toronto and the union representing its workers reached a dramatic pitch over the weekend. A tentative contract agreement was achieved in the small hours of Sunday that averts a work stoppage. Negotiators will reconvene at 9am ET Monday to finalize the agreement. That’s fits in nicely with the Full Moon phase which doesn’t peak until Tuesday.
Full Moons amplify the intensity and power of everything that is in the air. The New Moon (seeds) of Jan 23 kicked of the 29.5-day lunar month. The First Quarter (flowers) was reached last Tuesday. The Full Moon (fruit) is basically now and building up to a screaming crescendo on Tuesday.
Look over your diary and journal to get a grasp of how this lunar month has been developing for you. Some people complain about Full Moons, but it doesn’t have to be bad. Choose your mood. Take control. Be upbeat and confident. Expect success. You deserve it. With the right attitude the Full Moon will help you.
On Wednesday, Venus moves into the action-sign of Aries. Venus rules relationships, sexuality, finance and much more. Aries is going to stoke up the flames. The intensity level will increase.
Venus in Aries will enhance the charm, charisma and luck of all the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius and the air signs of Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. If you don’t fall into any these categories, no worries; Venus’ entry into Aries will bring a positive shift somewhere in your life. Be alert to good news or an upbeat feel-good factor making itself felt. Nurture it.
On Friday, Venus joins up with the unpredictable energy of Uranus. You know what that means: the revolutionary spirit is going to ramp up to fever pitch. Michael Moore is very likely to be in the news this week. World events will get very agitated.
And you? Well, you’ll get an I-can’t-wait-any-longer kind of feeling. Don’t be surprised if you stick your head out the window and shout it out to the world. I’ll be doing the same. See you there.
Friday brings a long void-of-course Moon. Remember those? It’s inadvisable to make major decisions or crucial business transactions during these times. It begins on Fri 10 Feb at 12:11am ET and ends at 2:54pm ET
These are good periods of time for doing just about everything, so don’t worry about it. Just don’t make any final decision or launch important initiatives. And if doing any of the above is unavoidable, that’s OK too. You’ll get a chance at some point to re-tool or make crucial adjustments that will put everything on the right trajectory.
Have a great week! Good luck!!
